Hiratsuka, Japan—The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced today that it was selected as a “Supplier Engagement Leader,” the highest rating in the Supplier Engagement Assessment 2024 conducted by CDP, the global environmental non-profit organization aiming to realize a sustainable economy.
The CDP’s Supplier Engagement Assessment evaluates the ways in which companies effectively cooperate with suppliers to address climate change issues. It is based on responses to five key areas from CDP’s climate change questionnaire: governance and business strategy, targets, Scope 3 emissions, risk management processes, and supplier engagement. Yokohama Rubber also received the highest rating for the third consecutive year and sixth time overall in the CDP assessment on climate change in 2024.
Yokohama Rubber has set a goal of achieving net zero CO₂ emissions from its own operations by 2050. The company has also made consistent efforts to address climate change across the entire supply chain through such measures as disclosing its Scope 3 CO₂ emissions since 2013. In cooperation with suppliers, Yokohama Rubber has established the “Yokohama Green Procurement Guidelines” to promote the development and use of environmentally friendly raw materials. Additionally, the company holds annual CSR briefings for suppliers during which it explains its initiatives aimed at achieving carbon neutrality and calls for cooperation in reducing CO₂ emissions throughout the supply chain. Yokohama Rubber’s selection as a “Supplier Engagement Leader” reflects these sustained efforts.
Under the sustainability slogan “Caring for the Future,” Yokohama Rubber is creating shared value by addressing social issues through its business activities.
